I know its not just me that thinks school is very stressful. Although I love school and work, It is so hard to have time to do all my work with my job on top of that. I am ready to be done with school so that I can start my career in teaching! I am thankful for the small amount of free time I do get sometimes because it is so nice to just relax.

  1. I so feel your pain. I really thought I would be done with school by this point in my life, but you never know what life has in store for you. I think it is great you're going to be a teacher. I taught middle school math and science for 13 years in East St. Louis. I am not sure what age group you are going to teach, but I have a few tips to pass along. First are my three most favorite YouTube sites to use in the classroom.

One is called MinutePhysics. Here is a link to their homepage https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUHW94eEFW7hkUMVaZz4eDg. They explain physics at its basic level. One of my favorites is The Order of Operations is Wrong https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9h1oqv21Vs.

My second site is Mr.Duey1. His homepage is at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCog2nq4MlOKdtHWsQlwcoAg. He does rap math and science songs. At the start of my class, my students had a song sheet and they would sing a different rap with the video. This worked great, because while they were singing I would take attendance and do administrative things. One of my 6th graders favorites is Long Division Cartoon by Mr. Duey at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Si3QFGbIan0.

And my third favorite is a classic. I would play Abbott and Costello show how 13x7 is 28. It's called inthenavy 281 and you can find it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HvGven4qJ0. I would show this video at the beginning of the year and offer 100 points extra credit for any student who could explain what Abbott mathematically did wrong. They would have the entire year and throughout the year I would be teaching the concepts, so they could answer that question.

I have one more website to share. You can use this now as you go through school. It is called Teachers pay Teachers. Teachers create all kinds of stuff to include very creative lesson plans. It is very inexpensive. This is where I found a lot of lessons for my students. You can find it at https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/.

For my parting words, I would tell you that you will never know how many students' lives you touch. Teaching is a usually a thankless job, but you will make a difference in their lives. Just love what you do, and care about each and every one of your students. When you feel discouraged, remember their parents sent you the very best they had. They did not keep the good ones at home. Always find one good thing to say about a child, and start with that when you are meeting with the parents. I hope you find teaching as much of a blessing as I did.

    Respectfully,
    Deborah Knapp
